Lutein and Xeaxanthin: The Nutritional Connection To Better Eye Sight

Everyone these days is looking for all natural ways to improve their eyesight. How do you do that? One way you can improve your vision and your health is by eating well. Have you ever heard the old saying, "You are what you eat?" When it comes to your eyesight, this is true.

However, the National Eye Institute has stated there isn't hard evidence that can prove without a doubt these substances will reduce your risk for macular degeneration, cataracts and related eye diseases.

However, there is plenty of evidence these substances are related to improving your overall health and well-being, and ultimately this will likely improve your vision. Your best bet is always to eat as best you can and include multiple servings of fruit and vegetables in your diet.

If nothing else, you may reduce your risk of certain diseases, but you will definitely improve the quality of your life and the overall health of your body.

If you are one of those people that can't stand the idea of eating fruits and vegetables, try a good multi-vitamin supplement or one containing high quality lutein and zeaxanthin.

For the most part, foods that are dark yellow and orange provide the most beneficial vitamins for improving vision. You will also benefit however, from eating plenty of dark, leafy greens. Here are some examples of fruits and vegetables high in lutein and zeaxanthin.
